In October 2021, the new imos iX 2021 version was released, bringing significant optimisations and improvements to the iX 2019 version. In this article we will look at what the new imos iX 2021 brings to iX CAD, PLAN and CAM software.
imos CAD optimizations through iX version 2021 (see the presentation video)
iX CAD offers even more convenience and improved operability for creating new projects. Among other things, computer-aided design plays a key role in this and enjoys several improvements. imos has also invested in XML data security. For a complete list of the benefits of using CAD software we recommend this artcle. Below are the most important new features in imos 2021:
Convenient operation
The menu has been simplified, building and design functions have been grouped into modules where they can be accessed very easily and intuitively, and the basic functions have been unified.
Improved design wizards
Assisted design helps to optimise the way articles are created and new functions have been implemented for the construction of furniture objects. While in iX 2019 the Article Designer module that allows the construction and modification of the furniture units opens in a separate window from which it is then transferred to CAD, in iX 2021 the Article Designer has been integrated into the CAD interface, thus eliminating the dialog window.
Optimised generation of plans
Now you can generate fully dimensioned drawings of plans, elevations and sections in one step. New features have been implemented for creating countertop, electrical and plumbing drawings, and smart update logic synchronizes drawings and dimensions in line with changes in the project.
Article positioning
Positioning the article with the specification of distances, dimensional changes and rotations has become easier. Planning is simplified by copying ready-configured items, and when using architectural plans, lines can be defined as virtual walls.
Order status in the local system
For greater transparency in the ordering process, it is possible to view the user responsible for the order and the status of the order, which can be assigned automatically.
imos PLAN optimisations through iX 2021 release (see the presentation video)
iX PLAN is the desktop 3D planning solution for professional kitchen, furniture and interior design sales of all kinds. We recommend using it in combination with the configurable furniture catalogue 3D ALL specially designed for iX PLAN.
In the 2021 version, iX PLAN includes even more functions such as such as individual dimensioning and commenting. Thanks to optimized item positioning and simplified planning, even the most complex aspects of a project can be easily planned:
Improved drawing automation
The workflow is clear, with editable and customizable drawing output. The user can add and edit views, work plans and plumbing and electrical plans can be created and edited.

Order status in the local systeml
For greater transparency in the ordering process, it is possible to view the user responsible for the order and the status of the order, which can be assigned automatically.
A new way to protect data
Data in the catalogue can be secured and protected against theft. In addition, the option to hide and encrypt the database has been added.
Subscription-based model
Imos has implemented a subscription-based model. This means that upfront investment is low, licensing is flexible and maintenance is included.
imos CAM optimizations through iX 2021 release (see the presentation video)
The use of two processors (instead of one) doubles the speed of generating production drawings, manufacturing documents and CNC programs, speeding up operations and maximizing productivity. See here what are the benefits of using CAM software.
Optimised workflow
Copying production steps now works in all workflows. Details subordinate to production steps can also be copied within a workflow.
Increased performance
Parallel processing allows workload distribution. For example, data generation can be distributed across multiple processing cores (up to four), with data being generated up to 4 times faster.
All these optimisations to the imos software with the iX 2021 version streamline the workflow from design to production. At the same time, the constant effort of imos AG to bring the user new and considerably improved versions is to be appreciated.
